The Wild Boars football team trapped in a cave in Thailand

Mae Sai, Thailand, July 10 (efe-epa).- The 12 children and their coach who have been trapped for more than two weeks in a flooded cave in northern Thailand - eight of which have already been rescued - are part of a youth football team known as the "Wild Boars".

The authorities have not revealed the identity of the eight who have already been brought out.

Duganpet Promtep, also known by his nickname of Dom, is the 13-year-old team captain and a fan of Real Madrid. Dom has a promising future ahead of him and several football teams are keeping an eye on him thanks to his technique.

Panumas Sangdee, or Mig, is a 13-year-old boy considered one of the most agile players in the side despite his big physique.

Somepong Jaiwong, or Pong, 13, is a Liverpool fan who dreams of becoming a part of the national Thai football team. He is described by his teachers as a cheerful boy and a sportsman.

Mongkol Booneiam, or Mark, is a 13-year-old boy and an avid follower of Spanish football league La Liga and Real Madrid. He is known as a respectful boy among his classmates and school teachers.

Adul Sam-on, 14, was born in Myanmar but moved to Thailand to study. He speaks four languages: Burmese, Thai, Chinese and English, which make him a spokesperson for the group who helps his teammates to communicate with the international rescue teams.

Nattawut 'Tern' Takamrong, 14, is a good student and sports lover, especially football.

Ekarat Wongsukchan, also known among his friends and families as Bew, is a 14-year-old responsible boy who helps his parents run their store.

Prajak Sutham, or Note, 15, is known among his teachers as an intelligent and well behaved boy

Pipat 'Nick' Pho, 15, is a barbecue lover who asked his parents to take him to a barbecue restaurant after getting out. Nick is described by his teachers as cheerful and witty, but very mature.

Pornchai Kamluang, or Tee, is a 16-year-old boy who loves making people around him happy. He smiles a lot and is attentive with his friends.

Peerapat Sompiangjai, or Night, is the oldest boy of the team. He turned 17 when he was trapped in the cave, but said in a letter to his parents that he still wants a birthday party when he is out.

Ekapol Chantawong, or Ake, is a 26-year-old assistant coach of the team. He was born in Myanmar. He was orphaned when he was very young so he moved to live with his grandmother. Before working as a football coach, he spent several years as a monk in a Buddhist temple. After finishing a training session with the boys, Ake took the children out on an excursion to the cave where they were trapped. He asked for their parents' forgiveness in a letter sent from the cavern.
