Barcelona, Apr 12 (efe-epa).- ASICS, a Japanese multinational corporation, presented at its Barcelona innovation center the second edition of TENKAN-TEN, a program dedicated to growing startups.

TENKAN-TEN serves as an accelerator of technology, under development projects related to sports and well-being, which is summed up in the company's slogan "Anima sana in corpore sano," which means "a healthy mind in a healthy body."

"We are delighted to reopen applications to TENKAN-TEN and support the founders of innovative start-ups to take their businesses to the next level," Alistair Cameron, executive officer of ASICS Corporation, said.

Daniel Dumig, head of business and innovation for ASICS in Europe, Middle East and Africa said the complete set of services is linked to e-sports.

ASICS has signed a cooperation deal with the University of Navarra's IESE Business School.

The promoters of the program have put in activities dedicated to helping the people behind the projects.

In order to strengthen this factor, the promoters are set to count on psychologists, coaching specialists and personal training sessions.

TENKAN-TEN will allocate 30,000 euros ($33,960) to fund the enterprise.

The presentation was attended by Regina Polanco, founder of Pyrates Smart Fabrics, one of five startups selected in the last edition and continue collaborating with the Japanese company.

Polanco, who founded five years ago a brand of sustainable street clothing made of intelligent fabrics, highlighted that she has experienced it "as a training, in a practical sense".

Asked about the possibility of purchasing the selected startups, Emilio Risques, vice president of business and innovation at ASICS EMEA did not rule out the possibility of investing in these companies in the future.

The registration period will end on June 9. As of that date, the company will contact the sixteen candidate projects for a selection round.

During that process, ASICS will search for projects with a "solid model," in addition to analyzing the teams that make up each of them.

The program will start in September and will be developed at the Innovation Center of Barcelona and the EMEA headquarters in Amsterdam. EFE-EPA
