Andorra la Vella, Apr 12 (efe-epa).- Barcelona defender Gerard Pique on Friday refused to comment on Atletico Madrid Diego Costa's eight-match ban.
During a presentation of his new business FC Andorra, Pique was asked for his opinion on the penalty Costa received after he was sent off during Saturday's La Liga match.
"It is not for me to talk about Diego Costa's sanction," Pique said.
"They banned me for four matches for saying exactly the same, but I already confirmed back then that I did not say what the referee said."
He added: "I think that the other four matches are for grabbing the referee. In the end, the rules are what they are."
Pique discussed Barcelona's crucial end of the season and the Catalan side's opponents, saying: "In the Champions League we are playing good football and we are at a good moment and we are mentally well prepared."
He said that his team is fully concentrated and eager to clinch the league title so that they can focus entirely on the Champions League.
Asked about the remarks in Marca newspaper from People's Party election candidate Pablo Casado, in which he compared Pique to Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal, Pique said: "It is not the right time to talk about this, as we are presenting an interesting project of the FC Andorra. It is not the day to talk about politics."
When asked if he wants to win the Ballon d'Or, as some are discussing his and possibly Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos' chances of winning the prize, he said: "It makes no sense to make this question. Leo Messi is above all the players in the world. He is at another level."
The press also wanted to also know what the defender thought of Barcelona's possible signing of Atletico Madrid French forward Antoine Griezmann during the summer transfer window and Pique stated "He is a great player.
"We at Barcelona are very good players and whoever comes has to contribute."
Griezmann collaborated with one of Pique's companies to produce 'La Decision,' a documentary that was released in the summer.
Barcelona holds the top spot in La Liga table with 73 points, 11 points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid and needs only ten points out of the remaining seven games to secure the title. EFE
