Man United coach: My players have more physical power than Barcelona's

Barcelona, Apr 15 (efe-epa).- Manchester United's head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reiterated Monday that his players are more physically fit than Barcelona's.

Barcelona is set to host United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals at Camp Nou stadium on Tuesday after the La Liga side earned a 1-0 away win in the first leg last week.

"We're physically taller than them, we're bigger than them, it's about the quality though," Solskjaer said at the pre-game press conference.

"We need to defend well and going forward we need to score. And I don't mind if we get the goal in the 93rd minute because if we get to injury time we're a fit team," he added.

The Norwegian coach also stressed that his players are used to playing such duels, adding that his team needs to play better than it did in the first leg along with making the most of the opportunities that come its way.

"We didn't stamp our authority on the game at home (Old Trafford), which you have to do when you play Barcelona," Solskjaer said. "We know we have to perform better, we have to get on the ball and play our football."

"We have to be focused and confident when we do get the goal-scoring chances," he added. "Because we will create chances, we carry a goal threat; it's about taking a deep breath and taking those chances."

United's coach also reminded people of his team's comeback against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in France in the last-16 round after the English team had been handed a 2-0 home defeat in the first leg, as a reference point for their hopes to repeat that performance against Barcelona.

"The memories from Paris will help the players," Solskjaer said. "It shows we can turn things around. Of course Barcelona at Camp Nou is a difficult prospect but we're one goal better off than we were against PSG."

Solskjaer also remembered the 1999 final when he scored, as a player, United's late 2-1 winner against Bayern Munich in minute 93, saying it was the only time he had ever played at Camp Nou.

The coach also discussed the status of his Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez, who was included on the roster after recovering from his recent injury, mentioning the fact that Sanchez previously played for Barcelona.

"Alex has been here and played here so it's a big night for him," Solskjaer said. "When he's on the pitch, I'm sure he wants to prove a point."

"He wants to prove a point for us as well, because he's been injured, he's not had a fantastic season so far and let's hope he can end it great for us because we are at the business end," the coach added.

"Let's hope Alexis, when he's on the pitch, can be happy with his performance," Solskjaer said.

Meanwhile, United defender Diogo Dalot attended the presser with his coach, saying that "We proved against PSG that we are a team that will never give up. We come here trying to win the game - which is always in our minds."
