London, Apr 19 (efe-epa).- As the Premier League season winds down, holders Manchester City will be determined to grab all 3 points when they host Tottenham Hotspur just days after the London side knocked them out of the Champions League.
City saw their hopes of the European treble dashed Wednesday night despite prevailing 4-3 in the second leg of the quarterfinal, as the teams ended 4-4 and Spurs advanced on away goals.
The stakes will also be high when the two sides meet again Saturday at the Etihad.
With 83 points, City trail leaders Liverpool by 2 points, though the Manchester club have a game in hand and can be assured of retaining the Premier League title if they win out, regardless of what the Reds do.
Spurs are not in the title race, but will want to solidify their grip on third place.
Tottenham lead Arsenal and Chelsea by just 1 point and Manchester United will also want to have their say in the scramble for a top-four finish.
City coach Pep Guardiola will have all of his regular starters available for the Tottenham game.
His counterpart, Mauricio Pochettino, must cope with the continuing absence of captain and star Harry Kane and the loss of Moussa Sissoko, who was hurt during the Champions League clash.
On the brighter side, Eric Dier appears to have recovered from a hip issue and could be fit for Saturday's contest.
Up front, Pochettino could reward Fernando Llorente for his miracle goal against City, or he could stick with the attacking trident of Dele Alli, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura.
Liverpool will keep a close eye on what happens at the Etihad as they prepare to visit relegation-bound Cardiff City on Sunday
Manchester United will visit Everton after being bounced from the Champions League by Barcelona.
