Rome, Aug 14 (efe-epa).- Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo will not be taking part in Juventus first team training sessions because of muscle issue, the Turin-based club announced Wednesday, with just 10 days ahead of the 2019/2020 Serie A kick-off.
The 34-year-old famed winger has been ruled out from taking the field in the traditional friendly between Juve’s first and B teams at the club’s training ground, Villar Perosa, later in the day, where Ronaldo scored his first goal with the Italian giants ahead of last season.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will be present today at #VillarPerosa, but will not participate in the practice match due to a slight fatigue to the left adductor,” Juventus posted to its Twitter account.
The Italian champion also added that the Portuguese international, who is about to start his second year at Juve, is not expected to be included in practicing with his teammates during the next days.
“In the coming days differentiated activities will take place,” Juventus tweet continued.
It took the former Real Madrid forward only eight minutes to open his scoring account in his first appearance as a Juventus player in the traditional friendly match last summer, after joining the Serie A winner for 112 million euros ($125 million).
Ronaldo, who scored 28 goals in 43 matches across all competitions last season, will try to be available when coach Maurizio Sarri's squad starts its Serie A title defending run and matchday 1 opener at Parma on Wednesday, Aug. 24. EFE-EPA
