Rio de Janeiro, Aug 16 (efe-epa).- Brazil national team coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, best known as Tite, on Friday called up Real Madrid’s winger Vinicius Junior and Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar for September’s two friendlies against Colombia and Peru.
This is the second time Vinicius has been called up for the first team, although he has yet to make his international debut.
An injury prevented him from taking part in the two friendlies played in March.
Neymar, on the other hand, returned to the squad while immersed in a delicate situation at PSG, which has reportedly been negotiating the Brazilian’s departure.
He was ruled out of the 2019 Copa America due to an injury.
Liverpool’s Fabinho also returned to the Brazil squad having been left out of the Copa America, despite being part of the team that won the UEFA Champions League.
Fabinho’s teammate, goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been left out of the squad with an injury as was Manchester City’s forward Gabriel Jesus due to suspension.
Sensation of the Brazil’s successful Copa America run, winger Everton, has also been ruled out of the squad as his team, Gremio, is playing the Brazil Cup semifinal and Copa Libertadores quarterfinals.
The coach called up Daniel Alves, who returned to Brazil as a Sao Paulo player and midfielder Philippe Coutinho, whose future seems far from resolved with Barcelona.
Brazil will take on Colombia on September 6 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, four days before squaring off against Peru at Los Angeles’ Memorial Coliseum.
These will be Brazil’s first two matches after winning the Copa America on July 7 at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana stadium, where it prevailed in the final against Peru.
The squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Ivan and Ewerton.
Defenders: Alex Sandro, Daniel Alves, Eder Militao, Fagner, Jorge, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Samir.
Midfielders: Allan, Arthur, Casemiro, Fabinho, Lucas Paqueta and Philippe Coutinho.
Forwards: Bruno Henrique, David Neres, Roberto Firmino, Neymar, Richarlison and Vinicius Junior. EFE-EPA
