Man. City Aguero-Silva combo prove lethal before Bournemouth

Bournemouth, England, Aug 25 (efe-epa).- Argentine forward Sergio Aguero on Sunday led Manchester City back on track with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

In his 400th appearance with City, Spaniard David Silva formed a duo with Aguero that proved lethal as Bournemouth was handed its first defeat of the season.

City has won all its Premier League games against Bournemouth led by coach Eddie Howe.

Bournemouth’s resistance lasted for nearly a quarter of an hour, but the Argentine broke the scoreless deadlock in the 15th minute when he collected a loose ball after a failed attempt by Kevin De Bruyne.

Although he did not get to score, he collected his 50th assist, to become the fastest player to do so in the Premier League.

With a couple of minutes to go before the half-time whistle, Raheem Sterling doubled the score, making the most of a pass by Silva on the verge of the penalty area.

This was Sterling’s ninth Premier League goal against Bournemouth.

Making his starting lineup debut, Harry Wilson gave his team a glimmer of hope as he nicely delivered from a free-kick, defeating Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson during the first-half stoppage time.

But any hope Bournemouth may have had vanished at the one hour mark when the Silva-Aguero partnership proved lethal once more as the Spaniard set the Argentine up for his second goal to make the score 3-1.

This is Man. City’s second Premier League win of the season, having crashed West Ham 5-0 on their opener and been held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur.

After the triumph, City holds the second spot in the Premier League table with seven points, two short of leader Liverpool, who has won its first three league matches of the season, including a 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday. EFE-EPA
