Tightrope-walker wows Chilean capital

Santiago, Oct 10 (EFE).- A Moroccan tightrope-walker known as Mustafa Danger made his Latin American debut here Wednesday by crossing a steel cable at a height of 50m (164ft) above a busy street in downtown Santiago.

Danger, who has been tightrope walking for nearly 30 years and has several Guinness records, made his way across the 150m span between two buildings without difficulty.

The performance kicked off a tour by the Circo Guardianes del Bosque (Forest Guardians Circus), which seeks to raise awareness of how small changes can make a difference in preserving the environment.

When asked how he stays focused and manages his nerves on the tightrope, Danger described himself as a "fear professional."

"With a lot of patience, knowing that you have Guinness records and that you are the best," he said.

Danger's history of high-wire heroics includes crossing Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium at a height of 40m.

In 2010, he set a Guinness record by riding a motorcycle 500m on a steel wire strung 150m above the Spanish resort of Benidorm.
