People with disabilities take to the runway in Moscow fashion show

Moscow, Oct 15 (efe-epa).- A Russian designer on Monday presented innovative designs for wheelchair users and people with disabilities as part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Moscow, an epa-efe photojournalist reported.

Ksenia Bezuglova, a former winner of Miss World 2003 and disabilities activist, wowed audiences of fashion week with her groundbreaking designs by putting disabled people on the runway, drawing inspiration from her personal experience of being wheelchair-bound after a serious car accident.

"The mission of the show is to demonstrate design and stylistic solutions that allow people with disabilities to experience absolute freedom and comfort in everyday life," Bezuglova said in a statement on her Instagram page.

The clothes are part of a range called I-Inclusive and included trousers adapted for prosthesis users and featured many female wheelchair users in flowing skirts, something Bezuglova says is unusual due to the practical hazards of fabric getting trapped in the wheels, but actively promotes.

Bezuglova is a disabilities activist and through her work aims to portray disability in a different light.
