Alejandro Sanz to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Los Angeles, United States, Jun 20 (efe-epa).- Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz is to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in his name in Los Angeles, the organizers said Thursday, although the date for the ceremony has not been finalized yet.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the body which runs the Walk of Fame, revealed the list of artists for the "Class of 2020", under which apart from Sanz, world renowned singers such as Elvis Costello, Billy Idol, 50 Cent, Alicia Keys and Muddy Waters (posthumous) will receive the stars.

The artists on the list from the world of movies include, Mahershala Ali from Batman, Laurence Fishburne, Chris Hemsworth, Spike Lee, Julia Roberts, Octavia Spencer and Lina Wertmüller.

The Walk of Fame will also honor television stars such as Christina Applegate, Cindy Crawford, Terry Crews, Milo Ventimiglia, Burt Ward and Andy Kaufman (posthumous), among others.

Dave Chappelle and Billy Porter are to receive recognition for their live performances while Susan Stamberg was included in the list for her work in radio.

Appearing in the "Class of 2020" of the Hollywood Walk of Fame does not necessarily mean that the ceremony to unveil the star will take place next year, as the date of these events depends upon the schedules and professional commitments of each of the chosen artists.

Jeniffer Lawrence was chosen for the Class of 2018 and the star has still not been placed on Hollywood Boulevard - the street known as Walk of Fame - in the Californian city.

Alejandro Sanz, 50, is an important figure in Spanish and Latin American music and has been successful with albums such as "Más" (1997) and "El alma al aire" (2000) and with songs, including "Cuando nadie me ve", "No es lo mismo" and "Corazón partío".

Winner of Latin Grammys' Person of the Year in 2017 as a tribute to his career and philanthropic commitment, Sanz released his latest album in April, "#ELDISCO".
